It’s been a while — here’s what’s new from DLX Plugins

Hello again. It's been a while...

It's been a while since my last newsletter (one year!), and a lot has happened. Let's go over what's new, what's coming, and I'll share some new tutorials.

Let's get to it, shall we?

A Quick Health Update

As some of you know, I have heart failure, which isn't necessarily the end of the world (as I have come to find out). My heart is still functioning at 40%, which is not great, but it's not in imminent danger territory.

Let's get to some product updates.

Photo Block Has Been Released

After sitting on and off the shelf for more than a year, I decided to release free plugin Photo Block. This is a neat new block for the WordPress block editor, and it combines features from other premium image blocks into this one.

I'm anxious for people to try this out, as it makes adding and editing images in the block editor really easy. You can spin up a full free demo to try it out. It's currently sitting at a paltry 10+ installs on WordPress.org, so I'm hoping to spread more awareness about this very useful plugin.

Comment Edit Pro Gets a "Block Comment" Feature

A few new features have been added to Comment Edit Pro 3.9:

  • The ability to block comments from the frontend.
  • The ability to copy a commenter's email address from the frontend.
  • reCAPTCHA Enterprise was added as spam protection.

Please check out Comment Edit Pro and see if it works for you.

AlertsDLX 2.1 Has Editorial (Admin-Only) Blocks

AlertsDLX is an awesome free tool for adding callouts and notifications to your pages and posts, and with 2.1, it gets even better with new editorial blocks.

Mark a block as editorial to:

  • Leave notes in the admin for others.
  • Mark a section as needing improvement.
  • Add warnings for others before manipulating content.

QuotesDLX Now Has Ratings

QuotesDLX 3.1 has been released and it's a game-changer.

In addition to adding citations, you can also now add ratings. This transforms a normal "quote" into a testimonial.

QuotesDLX is not the most popular solution out there for quotes, but it is the most capable and feature-rich out of all the plugins I've tried.

Plugin Info Card 6.0 Released With Custom Plugin Cards

Free plugin Plugin Info Card has long been limited to only listing plugins from WordPress.org. No longer. Version 6.0 brings Custom Plugin Cards.

With this useful addition, you can list and display as many third-party plugins as you desire. You can even share your third-party plugin via an export file, or a REST endpoint. This is extremely powerful.

GB Extras 2.1 Released

An add-on to GenerateBlocks, these useful utilities add some extra features like wrapping blocks in a Container element, or using markdown to insert the Headline block.

Version 2.1 adds extra support for new GenerateBlocks blocks, and introduces a new shape transform.

If you use GenerateBlocks, GB Extras is a powerful add-on that offers shortcuts to save you time when building.

Three New In-depth Tutorials

I only post quality tutorials on DLX Plugins, and here are three recent examples:

Join Me on Discord

I've created a brand new Discord server for DLX Plugins. It'll be useful for support requests and plugin talk. Right now there's just me in it. Can you help change that?

I promise to be more prompt with my next newsletter. Thank you so much for being a subscriber. Until next time.
