GitHub Info Cards in WordPress, Multisite for Comments, and Some Plugins May Be Coming From DLX Plugins
Published 6 days ago • 2 min read
It's been a busy several weeks. Here are a few huge product updates.
Well it hasn't been nearly a year since my last newsletter. In fact, it's been less than a month. Please don't hold it against me as I have a lot to share.
In this edition, I'll go over several product updates, including new GitHub Info Cards for Plugin Info Card, Multisite compatibility for Comment Edit Pro, and a sneak peak at some plugins that I have in the works.
GitHub Info Cards have been added to WP Plugin Info Card
Plugin Info Card 6.1 Released
I'm pleased to announce that you can display nearly any GitHub repository in WordPress using WP Plugin Info Card 6.1.0.
This started on Twitter as more of a proof-of-concept.
I ended up turning it into a functioning block and shortcode. A lot of work went into the integration, and some are already using it, so this is very exciting.
I was checking a few settings in Comment Edit Pro in a Multisite network and discovered the plugin is very limited on a network. This has been resolved, and Multisite is an intentional part of the plugin now.
This means:
You can disable and hide comments network-wide.
You can set up Slack notifications to retrieve comments for the entire network.
You can set editing times and unlimited editing network-wide.
Set a single license for the entire network (regardless of size).
This is a welcome addition to Comment Edit Pro and makes it that more useful on Enterprise and Multisite-capable installs.
I'm a big fan of Todoist for task management, so it was natural of me to want to scratch my own itch so-to-speak and create a native Gravity Forms integration. The goal being: create Todoist tasks from form entries.
What has transpired has been the most difficult API integration I've had to deal with, and I've worked with the Google Analytics and Maps APIs. The data is easy to work with, just hard to decipher, display, and connect to.
I want to share what's on the shelf and to see if there's any interest in this add-on. If so, please reply that you're interested, and I'll build you a personal version (slightly kidding).
Avatars and Multisite?
Avatars and Multisite?
I've toyed with the idea for a while now of creating yet another avatar plugin, but this one would be different. This new plugin would be Multisite-first, allowing a network of sites to share a common avatar.
For those of you are are Multisite gurus, you'll know that avatars (media) are attached to posts and can only be accessed from one site. Not anymore. I've found a way to set a base site for avatars and share this library across the network using the native media upload dialogue. I just need to package it up and turn the concept into an actual plugin.
This again is to gauge interest, so please, if you want a personal version, just hit reply and say, "Give me avatars!"
